Step-by-Step Guide: Using Your Mobile Device to Complete the Dongle Installation in Your Tractor and Acquiring the ECM Identifier to Complete the Vehicle Profile in the ELD Admin Portal
Overview1. Login to CloudHawk ELD
2. Select the INSTALL vehicle
3. Scan for the dongle and record the ECM identifier (MAC address)
4. Complete the ELD diagnostic
Step by Step Instructions
- From the CloudHawk ELD Login screen, press the Support button to access the support login
page (your installer credentials will not work on the main login page). - Login using your support credentials:
Username: “install”
Password: “CloudHawk#1” - Select the INSTALL vehicle from the tractor list (you don’t need to select a trailer)
- Ensure the "Log ECM data" box is checked off (should default to be checked automatically) and then press 'save'.
- Press Scan Devices and wait for the dongle you just installed to appear in the list. You will also see the MAC address along with the dongle serial number. Make note of the MAC address as you will need to include this info when creating the asset in the admin portal.
- Select the device you just installed and press Continue (the serial number is also presented in
the list and will match the label on the dongle you physically installed in the vehicle). - Run the ELD diagnostic and ensure everything passes the test and turns green. Ensure the VIN in the top-right matches the vehicle you are working on. On some vehicles, engine hours may fail to report, and odometer values may be different than the dash odometer, but should never be 0. If anything other than engine hours is missing, or if the ODO reading is 0, check that the
dongle is properly installed. When you press Continue, you will be returned to the login page.
Troubleshooting
I can't login
• Confirm you tapped Support and the login screen says, “CloudHawk ELD Support” and not just “CloudHawk ELD”
• Confirm you entered your credentials correctly. They are case-sensitive and shown below:
Username: install
Password: CloudHawk#1
I don't see the dongle in the list
• Confirm the vehicle’s engine has been running for at least 3 minutes to ensure the dongle is getting power and has a chance to charge and come online
• Confirm the dongle is properly/securely connected to the ECM port
The diagnostic failed
• Check the connection between the dongle and the ECM port, ensure it is secure
• If a particular item other than Engine Hours is consistently failing, but the VIN and other fields are correct, contact support at help@brightorder.com
