# Add a New Accounting Period for a New Year

## This article explains how to add a new accounting year in EMDECS.

1. Open the **Financials** menu and select **Financial Manager**.

2. Click on the **Accounting Periods** link under the Things To Do list on the left-hand side, or click on the **Accounting Periods** tab at the bottom of the Financial Manager screen.

3. Your current accounting years will be listed. To add the new year, click **Add**.

4. Enter the year to be added and click **Add** again.

5. The new accounting year will be added, and the accounting periods/months will be created automatically based on your prior year's accounting periods.
