Split RO: Moving and Copying Labor to New or Existing Repair Orders

What is a Split Repair Order?

When looking at a repair order in a Ready or Open status you'll see a button on the top right titled "Split RO". This allows you to either split or copy specific labor and its parts, meaning you can move labor and its parts from one repair order to another or you can copy those same labor lines and its respective parts. Using this functionality is a great way to save time on repetitive repair orders, If you typically add the same two labor lines and parts you'll save time duplicating the repair order instead of starting from scratch.

This tool is also useful to move labor and parts accidentally added to the wrong repair order, you can move them both to an existing repair order as seen below.

Explaining the Split RO Screen
When you first press Split RO you'll see a screen cut in half, your existing repair order on the left, and a blank space for either an existing repair order or a new one.

On the left side we see our existing repair order with labor on the top and parts below on the bottom. You'll see two buttons on each labor line which allow you to either move a labor line or copy one, keeping the labor on the original work order as well. Before we move or copy some labor we need to add a repair order to the right side, We can either press "Select RO" or "New RO".

Select RO: Select an existing repair order, the owner and unit # do not need to match.

New RO: Create a new repair order from scratch, From this screen, you can select a different location, owner, unit#, and who it's being invoiced to. You'll also decide on the RO Start date.

You can add multiple repair orders to the right side of the screen by selecting New RO/Select RO again. This allows you to move or copy labor to several repair orders one after another, on the original repair order you'll see the number of repair orders you've split the current one onto. You'll see this on the Split RO Button.

Moving or Copying Labor & Parts

After you've selected a new repair order or an existing one you can now move/copy labor. When we press move or copy we'll see one of two screens titled either "Move labor to different unit" or "Copy labor to different unit". The main difference as we'll see below is when copying we can select which parts to include, if we're moving the labor it instead brings over any parts linked to that labor line.

Copy labor to different unit

You will only see this screen when copying labor with parts, otherwise, the copy button instantly copies the labor line to the other repair order.

Move Labor to different unit

Once you've selected the labor and parts you want to be moved or copied you can confirm it by pressing Move/Copy labor to different unit. This will either move or duplicate the labor from the left side of the screen to the right, This means if you were to open the repair order on the right side you'll see these same labor and parts as you see here.

When labor lines with PM Inspections are moved to a new or existing repair order they will be voided and need to be filled out/re-entered.

There is no finalization or confirmation needed, you've finished splitting the repair order. When the repair order is invoiced you'll still see the Split RO button on the top right, this will always be there and you can click it to look at historical records of any RO you've split this one into.
